Microwaves pass through most glass, paper, and plastics without heating them so food absorbs the energy. Microwaves bounce off metal pans so food does not absorb the energy. Microwaves may not reach the center of a roast. The heat spreads to the center from the outer, cooked areas just as in regular oven cooking.

Control panel features microwave Your oven control panel lets you select the desired cooking function quickly easily. All you have to do is touch the necessary Commend Pad. The following is the Command and Number Pads located on the control panel. For more information, 14-35.

Audible signals Audible signals are available to guide you when setting using your oven: A programming tone will sound each time you touch a pad. One long tone signals the end of a Minute Timer countdown. Four tones signal the end of a cooking cycle.
Using the exhaust The three pads on the bottom left of the control panel control the 2-speed Exhaust Fan. 1. Choose fan speed. NOTE: If the temperature gets too hot around the microwave oven, the exhaust fan in the vent hood will automatically on at the LOW setting to protect the oven.

Setting the clock When your microwave oven is first plugged in or after a power failure, the Display will show ‘66&W. For the first 30 seconds after the power is on, you can set the clock time without touching CLOCK. After 30 seconds has gone by, you must follow the directions below to set the time.
Using the Minute You can use your microwave oven as a minute timer. Use the Minute Timer for timing up to 99 minutes, 99 seconds. 1. Touch TlMER SET. 2. Enter time to be counted down. Example for 1 minute, 30 seconds: NOTE: If you enter more than 4 digits, three tones will sound.

Weight conversion chart You are probably used to food weights as being in pounds and ounces that are frac- of a pound tbns (for example 4 ounces equals ‘/r pound). However, in order to enter food weight in AUTO DEFROST, you must specify pounds and tenths of a pound.
Using WARM HOLD You can safely keep hot, cooked food warm in your microwave oven for up to 99 minutes, 99 seconds (about 1 hour, 40 minutes). You can use WARM HOLD by itself, or to automatically follow a cooking cycle.
Using POPCORN POPCORN lets you pop commercially popcorn packaged microwave by touching just one pad. Pop only one package at a time. lf you are using a microwave popcorn popper, follow manufacturer’s instructions. oven You can set your microwave to pop different size bags of popcorn.
