Unpacking the N7000 series gateway Note: Note: Lift box from crate. The Eight Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) modules will either be in the accessory box or contents will remain in place. will be installed on the fiber ports of the gateway system.

Installing the N7000 series gateway in the rack 32 kg (70.5 lb) Caution: The weight of this part or unit is between 32 and 55 kg (70.5 and 121.2 lb). It takes three persons to safely lift this part or unit.

Remove the five fan modules from the front of the system unit by performing the following steps: Loosen the thumbscrew on the fan module handle. Press the release tab of the fan module handle, and then pull the handle toward you to remove the fan from the chassis. Make sure that you support the fan with your free hand.

The system unit is installed from the front of the rack. Position the pallet near the front of the rack. Lift the system unit using the handles on the chassis and place the system unit onto the rails. Then slide it into the rack until the front mounting bracket of the system unit is flush with the frame rails of the rack.

Installing the cabling hardware Verify that SFPs are installed and firmly seated in Fibre Channel ports 0a through 0h. Install your cable management tray by inserting one arm into the chassis as shown. Then press the other arm towards the center of the chassis and insert it in the slot so that it locks into place.

Cluster cabling (model A21 only) To cable the cluster adapters, complete the following steps, using the diagram for reference. NVRAM6 adapters, which also function as the cluster interconnect adapters, must be installed in slot 1 of each gateway node. Note: Cluster cables can be either fiber or copper.
Installing the power cables Make sure all power supply switches on the N7700/N7900(s) and any attached expansion units(s) are in the Off position. Connect the power cords to all power supply 1 and power supply 2 power receptacles for all storage systems that are being installed using power cord retainer clips as shown below.
