The following table summarizes which network options you can set using the Setup program.

CONTROLLING THE NETWORK SECURITY FEATURES
The Security Features allow you to enable starting from the network if you want the PC to start
from a LAN server.
To enable starting from the network:
1.
Use the left arrow or right arrow key to select the Security menu (refer to "Security Menu
Items" in this chapter).

Press the down arrow key to highlight the line Start-up Center and press [ENTER] to
select the submenu.

Highlight the line Start from Network and press [F7] or [F8] to select the remote start
protocol:
•
NOVELL/ETHERNET/RIPL for Novell
•
MICROSOFT/ETHERNET/RIPL for LAN Manager

You can disable the other boot options to prevent the PC from booting if the network or
server ever fails:
a. Press down arrow to go to the Start From Flexible Disk line. Press [F7] or [F8] to
change the option to [Disabled].
b. Press the down arrow key to go to the Start From CD-ROM line. Press [F7] or [F8] to
change the option to [Disabled].
c. Press down arrow to go to the Start From Hard Disk line. Press [F7] or [F8] to change
the option to [Disabled].
CONTROLLING THE REMOTE PROGRAM LOAD
The HP Enhanced PCI Ethernet interface has the ability to power up the PC upon the receipt of
a special sequence (known as a Magic Packet) from the network.
The Remote-Wake mode allows the PC to resume (or Wake-Up) normal functioning when it is
in SLEEP (SUSPEND) mode.
The Remote-Power mode allows the PC to start when it is switched off.
