When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
- Read all instructions.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse cord, plugs or appliance in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Do not use this appliance for other than intended use.
- Oversized foods, metal foil packages, or utensils must not be inserted in a toaster, as they may create a fire or risk of electric shock.
- A fire may occur if the toaster is covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls and the like, when in operation.
- Do not attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged in.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- Press cancel button before disconnecting power cord if unit is in use.

To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, operate with crumb tray closed.

POLARIZED PLUG (120V MODELS ONLY)
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
ELECTRICAL CORD
- A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
- Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
- If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,
- The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance,
- The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.
Note: If the power cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel; in Latin America by an authorized service center.
HOW TO USE
This product is for household use only.
GETTING STARTED
- Place toaster on a flat, level surface, where the top of the unit has enough space for the heat to flow without damaging the cabinets or walls.
- Remove tie from cord and unwind.
- Plug unit into electrical outlet.
- For first time use, select setting 4 (medium). Re-adjust the setting to suit your personal preference on successive toasting operations.
- If the wrong button is selected, press the CANCEL button, press the lever down and reselect the desired setting.
This toaster has a built-in toast control lever with extra lift. If toasted food does not clear the top of the toaster use the toast control lever to raise the food for easy removal.
TOASTING CYCLE
- Adjust toast shade selector to the desired setting (1 through 7).
- Insert slices of bread, bagels or other foods to be toasted in appropriate slot and press toast control lever until it locks into the down position. The self-adjusting guides automatically center food being toasted.
- When selecting BAGEL or FROZEN function, you must press the toast control lever before selecting one of these settings.
Note: During the BAGEL function both sides will toast to the shade selected. - When toasting is complete, the toast control lever releases and the appliance shuts off.
- Unplug the toaster when not in use.
REMOVING EXCESS CRUMBS
- To remove exceses crumbs, let unit cool, unplug unit, open crumb door - shake excess into appropriate trash recepticle. Close and latch crumb door before using.
CARE AND CLEANING
This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel.
CLEANING
Always unplug the cord from electrical outlet and allow toaster to cool before cleaning. Do not immerse toaster in water.
CLEANING OUTSIDE SURFACES
The unit gets hot. Allow the toaster to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth or sponge and dry with a paper towel.
- Do not use strong cleaners or abrasives that may scratch surfaces and never spray cleaners directly onto the toaster.
