Standby current
The PM240M Power Module has a unique standby current characteristic which needs to be
taken into account when calculating the requirements of the line supply.
The standby current is the current that the Power Module requires when the Converter is in
the ready-to-run mode. This means that the Converter is powered-up but the motor is not
running. The phenomenon of capacitive reactive current standby occurs in all Power
Modules and Converters with filter capacitors on the line side.
In applications where a number of Converters are connected to one line supply and where
only a small proportion of the Converters will be running at any one time, the standby
currents in the non-running Converters must be considered when calculating the size of the
conductors and selecting the correct protective devices on the line supply of the system.
The Control Module (CM) and the communications input and outputs are normally powered
by a Class 2 external 24 V supply, which does not influence the standby current of the
Converter. However, the optional 24 V PSU draws it power directly from the DC link of the
Distributed converter for SIMOGEAR geared motors
