5.3 Using Pulse Counter Modules
5.3.1 Available functions
(1) Input
(a) 1-phase pulse input
Any available pulse counter module counts up the pulses in an input signal from input A2
by detecting their rising edge, as shown below.
(b) 2-phase pulse input
Any available pulse counter module counts up or down the pulses in one of two input
signals from inputs A1 or B1 by detecting their rising edge, as shown below. The
direction of counting is determined by detecting which input signal leads the other.
All the available counter modules function as ring counters:
• In the case of model LWC400:
The count +16,383 is set to 0 when the counter is counted up by 1.
Then, when the counter is counted down by 1, the count 0 is set to +16,383.
• In the case of models LWC401 and LWC402:
The count +8,191 is set to -8,192 when the counter is counted up by 1.
Then, when the counter is counted down by 1, the count -8,192 is set to +8,191.
Do not apply both of the 1-phase and 2-phase pulse inputs to any available counter
module. If this rule is not observed, it will result in malfunction of the counter
module.
