Safety precautions Using your Notebook PC This Notebook PC should only be used in environments with ambient temperatures between °C (1°F) and 3°C (9°F). Refer to the rating label on the bottom of your Notebook PC and ensure that your power adapter complies with this rating.
Caring for your Notebook PC Disconnect the AC power and remove the battery pack (if applicable) before cleaning your Notebook PC. Use a clean cellulose sponge or chamois cloth dampened with a solution of nonabrasive detergent and a few drops of warm water. Remove any extra moisture from your Notebook PC using a dry cloth.
Proper disposal Do not throw your Notebook PC in municipal waste. This product has been designed to enable proper reuse of parts and recycling. The symbol of the crossed out wheeled bin indicates that the product (electrical, electronic equipment and mercury- containing button cell battery) should not be placed in municipal waste.

Touch screen panel Your Notebook PC comes with a detachable touch screen panel that works like a tablet PC to suit your mobile needs. The touch screen panel is also equipped with its own features for work and play which can be accessed using touch screen panel gestures. NOTE: For more details on using the touch screen panel, refer to the Touch screen panel features and Using touch screen panel gestures sections in this manual.

Front Camera The built-in front camera allows you to take pictures or record videos using your Notebook PC. Camera indicator The camera indicator lights up when the built-in camera is in use. Ambient light sensor The ambient light sensor detects the amount of ambient light in your environment.
Bottom side PC dock slot This slot is magnetic and aligns conveniently with the magnetic PC dock tab to securely attach the touch screen panel to its PC dock. WARNING! • The PC dock slot is magnetic Please keep out of children’s reach.

Numeric keypad on keyboard Using the function key, you can toggle between using these keys according to their original function or using them as a numeric keypad.
Rear view PC dock tab The magnetic PC dock tab securely attaches the touch screen panel to the PC dock. Attach the touch screen panel to the PC dock by aligning the PC dock slot on top of this tab. Once attached, you can adjust the touch screen panel according to your preferred viewing angle.
Docking the touch screen panel Align the touch screen panel on top of the PC dock tab as illustrated below. NOTE: The PC dock slot and the PC dock tab have magnetic parts. The pull between these magnets help align the touch screen panel to securely connect it with the PC dock.

Audio speakers This touch screen panel uses SonicMaster technology to provide hi-fi sound quality, with richer bass sounds, straight from the built-in audio speakers.
Front Side The following hardware features located on your touch screen panel can be used while working on your Notebook PC. These features also work when the touch screen panel is used as a tablet device. Power button Press the power button to turn your touch screen panel on or off. You can also use the power button to put your Notebook PC to sleep or hibernate mode and wake it up from sleep or hibernate mode.
Charge your Notebook PC. Connect both your touch screen panel and PC dock to a power source using the following steps: Plug the AC power adapter into a 100V~0V power source. Connect the DC power connector into your touch screen panel’s power (DC) input.

Starting for the first time When you start your computer for the first time, a series of screens appear to guide you in configuring the basic settings of your Windows® 8 operating system. To start your Notebook PC for the first time: Press the power button on your Notebook PC.

Inside the charms bar Search This charm allows you to look for files, applications, or programs in your Notebook PC. Connecting to wireless networks Wi-Fi Access emails, surf the Internet, and share applications via social networking sites using your Notebook PC’s Wi-Fi connection. IMPORTANT! The Airplane mode disables this feature. Ensure that Airplane mode is turned off before enabling the Wi-Fi connection of your Notebook PC.

Bluetooth Use Bluetooth to facilitate wireless data transfers with other Bluetooth- enabled devices. IMPORTANT! The Airplane mode disables this feature. Pairing with other Bluetooth-enabled devices You need to pair your Notebook PC with other Bluetooth-enabled devices to enable data transfers.

Select a device from the list. Compare the passcode on your Notebook PC with the passcode sent to your chosen device. If they are the same, tap/click Yes to successfully pair your Notebook PC with the device. NOTE: For some bluetooth-enabled devices, you may be prompted to key in the passcode of your Notebook PC.
Airplane mode The Airplane mode disables wireless communication, allowing you to use your Notebook PC safely while in-flight. Turning Airplane mode on Launch the Charms bar. Connecting to wired networks You can also connect to wired networks, such as local area networks and broadband Internet connection, using your Notebook PC’s LAN port.
