Wireless Security Configuration
Web Authentication for Mobile Users
7-58
URL Intercept
After the user station associates with the WLAN successfully and receives an
IP address, it enters the Web-Auth state. In this state, the user station is
associated to the access point using one of the temporary IP addresses in the
pool, but is not yet authenticated to the network.
The user then opens a Web browser and attempts to access a valid URL that
can be reached through the network. The AP-530 intercepts this request and
redirects the user's Web browser to the Web-Auth login page to initiate the
authentication process.
Logging In
Figure 7-13. Web-Auth Login Screen
On the Web-Auth Login page, the user either enters a valid username and
password to authenticate against the RADIUS server, or clicks the [Guest]
button to authenticate using Guest credentials (see figure 7-13).
Authenticating
The AP-530 then submits these login credentials to the RADIUS server.
Successful Authentication. If the RADIUS server verifies the user's login
credentials, the AP-530 displays the Web-Auth Authentication Success, or
Welcome, page (figure 7-14).
