Gigabit Ethernet Switches are integrated into the rack for internal communication. In the case of SE700 and SE500 the Net Unit is by default redundant in design. In the case of SE300, redundancy of the Net Unit is optional. In the case of SE700 and SE500 an HNC provides the LAN connections for the SU /390.

The components of the SE server are integrated into the basic rack, a 19-inch standard rack. In the case of the SE700 and SE500 the control panel is located on the front (see section “Control panel (on the SE700 and SE500)” on page 42).
The extension rack is a 19-inch standard rack which accommodates additional components for which there is no more space in the basic rack. Figure 5: SE server with an extension rack (e.g. SE700) In all an SE server can comprise four racks.
4.3 Power supply The devices in the racks are supplied with power over power distribution units (PDUs). SE700 and SE500 By default a basic rack contains four PDUs, each with 8 x C13 outlets. Each PDU is connected to the in-house power grid with CEE connectors 32A blue. For redundancy reasons, two phases are required.
Power supply Racks 4.3.1 Connection of the power cables Most of the hardware components in the SE server rack do not incorporate any switches which disconnect them from the power source. Consequently the power cables of the hardware components must be attached or detached when it is necessary to connect or disconnect the components from the power source.

In the maximum configuration, 5 KVM ports (2 x MU and 3 x SU x86) are occupied in the SE300, and 8 KVM ports (2 x MU, 4 x HNC and 2 x SU x86) in the SE500/SE700. For the SE300 at least 11 free ports thus remain available to connect AUs, and for the SE500/SE700 at least eight free ports.
5.3 Control panel (on the SE700 and SE500) At the front of the basic rack on the SE700 and SE500, a control panel is located on the outside. The control panel is connected to the service processor (SVP) of the SU700 / SU500 of the SE server.
