Boot Sequence Boot Sequence can be set to Diskette First (the default option), Hard Disk Only, CD-ROM First, or Device List. The term boot refers to the system’s start-up procedure. When turned on, the system “bootstraps” itself into an operational state by loading into memory a small program, which in turn loads the necessary operating system.

Your Dell system is shipped to you without the system password feature enabled. If system security is a concern, you should operate your system only with system password protection.

On systems with a Dell-installed Windows NT operating system, the ICU is installed on the hard-disk drive as a diskette image. Use the Dell Program Diskette Maker (located in the Dell Accessories program group or folder) to make an ICU diskette from this diskette image.
The ICU is also available through online services such as Dell’s TechConnect bulletin board service (BBS). See your online System User’s Guide or the chapter titled Dell OptiPlex GXa Midsize Systems Reference and Installation Guide “Getting Help” in your Diagnostics and Troubleshooting Guide for information on accessing the BBS.

Chapter 5 Working Inside Your Computer our Dell computer system supports a variety of in- ternal options that expand system capabilities. This chapter prepares you to install options inside the com- puter. It describes how to remove and replace the computer cover and expansion-card cage, as well as rotate the power supply away from the system board.
