Procedure 3
Connector Check
The USB FDD connector may be disconnected from the connector on the system board or
USB board. Check visually that the connector is connected firmly.
Check 1
Make sure the USB FDD cable is firmly connected to the CN4610 (port 4/6),
CN4612 (port 0) on the system board or CN4630 (port 7) on the USB board.
If the connection is loose, reconnect firmly and repeat Procedure 2. If there is still
an error, go to Check 2.
Check 2
Make sure the USB board cable is firmly connected to the CN4620 on the system
board and CN4631 on the USB board.
If the connection is loose, reconnect firmly and repeat Procedure 2. If there is still
an error, go to procedure 4.
Procedure 4
Replacement Check
Prepare a USB FDD works properly. Connect the USB FDD to the CN4610, CN4612 on the
system board and CN4630 on the USB board and check if the USB FDD works properly. If
the USB FDD is not functioning properly, go to Check 1 (when connecting to the CN4630) or
check 2 (when connecting to the CN4612 or CN4612).
Check 1
The USB board or USB board cable may be defective or damaged. Replace it
(them) with a new one. If the USB FDD is still not functioning properly, perform
Check 2.
Check 2
Replace the system board with a new one following the steps in Chapter 4,
Replacement Procedures.
